The meaning of marriage varies in different cultures, however the basic definition of marriage can be defined as the ritual or legal agreement in any culture by which society, law and religion between a man (husband) and wife (wife). In the eyes of Islam, both man and woman are equal as human beings. Islam presents the family as an institution. The duties of husband and wife in the family are determined on the basis of their physical constitution and nature. The husband is recognized as the custodian or administrator of the house and in this respect he is the guardian and protector of the woman and the head of the house.
