Koh-i-Noor is one of the most famous diamonds in the world and has been the crown jewel of kings. The crown is now the crown jewel of Britain. Koh-i-Noor means mountain of light. The diamond weighed 105 carats (21.6 grams). The original weight of the diamond was 37 grams before it went to the British. However, in order to improve the shape of the diamond and increase its luster, the size of the diamond has been slightly reduced by the UK. At present, the 105 carat diamond is reduced to 21 grams. It is the only diamond of its kind that has a distinct history in itself. It is said that this diamond has been the cause of misfortune and death for men while it has been the cause of happiness for women.
According to tradition, the diamond was mined four thousand years ago in a mine in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is found in the custody of the famous Raja Bikrama Jeet. It later became the property of several Rajas, then the famous General Malik Kafur acquired it and presented it to Sultan Allauddin Khilji. It remained the property of the Khilji family for years and then Ibrahim Lodhi got the news of it which was defeated by Emperor Zaheeruddin Babar and obtained from his mother.
Reached Sultan Ibrahim Lodhi in the sixteenth century AD. After the victory in the battle of Panipat in 1526, the first Mughal emperor reached Zahiruddin Babar. In the days of the decline of the Mughal period, the Iranian king Nadir Shah also took this diamond with him.
After the British occupation of Punjab in 1849, the British handed over the diamond to the Queen of Britain, Dilip Singh, the minor grandson of Raja Ranjit Singh. One thousand billion rupees. But this is an estimate.
