THAL DESERT

The barren land on the planet is called desert. There are hundreds of deserts all over the world, including the Thal Desert in Punjab, Pakistan.  The desert is located between the Indus and Jhelum rivers in the districts of Mianwali, Bhakkar, Khushab Jhang Layyah and Muzaffargarh.  In fact, Thal forms a triangle in these six districts. The entire area south of the railway connecting Mianwali is in the Thal desert.

The land is 190 miles long and a maximum of 70 kilometers wide.  The Indus is its western bank, while the Jhelum, Chenab and Ravi together determine its eastern boundary.

Agricultural crops include wheat, millet, guava, millet, mustard and tara meera, while gifts such as black and white gram are popular across the country.  Farming and livestock are the occupations of the people here.  Most people keep animals. Camels, goats, cows, buffaloes, sheep are famous animals.

The area, which has a history of thousands of years, is now turning green, but its original culture is declining and disappearing from most areas.  There are sand dunes on every side.  Water and population are scarce.  Desert plants and animals are found

The Thal area is very beautiful, one of the Thal areas of Bhakkar and Khushab has its own beauty.  People are very peaceful and very tough people.  The language here is Seraiki.
