Monsoon rains
Monsoon is a series of winds, clouds and rains. The increase in evaporation in the Indian Ocean is the cause of monsoon rains. The word monsoon was first used in English in the subcontinent and the word gained worldwide fame. Monsoon rains in Sri Lanka, northern parts of the Indian Himalayas and Monsoon winds blow from May to September in the Arabian Sea from southwest to northeast. Their speed is about 50 km per hour. This wind contains seawater vapor. Evaporation rains down. Monsoon winds in North Asia and the North Indian Ocean began to move six or eight million years ago today. The Himalayas and Tibet are rising.
